About the event

Last year sweltering temperatures last weekend brought thousands of people to Middlewich for the Folk & 2017 Boat Festival. John & Jackie Romero opened their garden (which backs onto the Trent & Mersey canal) to all so that funds could be raised for charity during the event. The weekend under the name of Accordion Magic had an entertainment line up with a number of well known faces from the accordion world, all of which donated their services for free.

Visual highlights of the weekend included The ‘Manchester Morris Men’, The Weaver Vally Accordion Orchestra, Harry Hussey, Helen Rich, John Penny and even traffic stopping to watch the dancing on Sunday afternoon. The whole show was organised by John who also played a number of music sets. Jackie kept the Tea Garden running ensuring that refreshments were available and everything from cakes to pastries (all homemade) and hot and cold drinks were in constant supply.

Whilst this was going on  a team of helpers (mainly family members) who spent time shaking buckets to raise funds for the Winstons Wish charity. The previous two years totals were beaten and a stunning total of just under £600 was collected for this fabulous cause.

2018 will see a repeat of the event and John & Jackie Romero are currently looking for more artistes to donate their time and playing skills for the this FAB event, please contact John or Jackie if you can help on 01606 270148.
